2022/2023 King Philip Metrowest Basketball Tryouts are now open for children in grades 3 through 8 that live in Plainville, Norfolk, or Wrentham

Please read the items below as it will answer most of your questions and what you need to know for tryouts.  If you don't find your answer here, please submit your question via the Feedback link at the top of the page (in the menu on the mobile version).

1. Please have your player bring a basketball to tryouts. They will be provided a pinny to wear during tryouts that will be assigned to them during registration.
2. Tryout process - Players are encouraged to make BOTH TRYOUTS (for grades that have two tryout dates).  We try to notify players parents via email about the results of their tryouts within one week from the date of the last KPBA tryout.
3. There is no cost associated with Tryouts
4. 3rd grade everyone makes a team - 4th grade we create two even teams of 12 for boys and two even teams of 12 for girls - 5th through 8th we create an A team consisting of 10 players, and a B team consisting of 11 players
5. Games are almost always on Sundays. Half are home games that are local, half are away games that are anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes away. The regular season starts just after Thanksgiving and ends early March plus playoffs. Some teams opt to play in preseason tournaments the week before or during Thanksgiving.
6. Practices are twice per week, Mondays through Saturday. Practice times are selected by the coach of each team after all the teams have been formed. Practice typically starts around Halloween. NOTE: The Metrowest 3rd grade program does not officially start playing games until January, therefore the practice schedule is lighter for the 3rd grade program until December.
7. Gym locations: KPBA leverages gyms in the three KP towns, as well as Foxboro and Mansfield
8. Coaches are selected AFTER the teams are selected. During registration for your specific team (NOT the tryout registration) it will ask if you want to volunteer to coach. You can notify us during that part of the process.
